About

Personal

My name is Scott Gottreu and I’m a recent graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  I enjoy traveling and playing my guitar and don’t do nearly enough of either.

I started this blog several years ago and my postings are varied and sporadic. However, I hope that my posts are more than daily dribble but chances for deeper thought about life and technology.

Professional

After graduating with and undergrad in Sociology, I began my career as a classic ASP developer at the university I graduted from. In 2003, I left my job at the local university to try my hand at self-employment. I formed TreuTech and found work repairing computers and creating both desktop and web apps. The job market was small so eventually I took a position doing development in the private sector.

Since 2001, I have worked in academia, the private sector, and churches. I also performed contract work for various organizations. I cut my teeth on classic ASP and then moved to PHP. Along the way I picked up some Perl, Ruby, and a smattering of ASP.Net.

I worked for a church in Arlington, Texas for two and a half years while in seminary before being laid off in February of 2009.  I worked as a contractor customizing WordPress and SalesForce for my clients until October of that year.  It was then that I was hired full-time as a PHP developer at a urgent care medical clinic in Crowley, Texas.
